Brunei Darussalam Announces 2010 Public Holidays

(Posted on Tuesday, November 17, 2009)

Source: Brunei Information Department (Prime Minister's Office)

The Information Department of Brunei Darussalam's Prime Minister's Office has released a list of public holidays for 2010.

The list however, leaves the dates of the various Muslim public holidays (Prophet Muhammad's Birthday, 1st Day of Ramadhan, Nuzul Al-Quraan, Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Hari Raya Aidil Adha, and 1st Day of Muharram) as "Subject to changes".

It would appear that the dates used as initial estimates are based on the Saudi Calendar, and not the official MABIMS calendar used to calculate the Muslim public holidays in Brunei Darussalam. The result is that we expect many of the aforementioned Muslim holidays dates to be revised (to the next day) in the coming months.
