Denmark's Business Minister, Lene Espersen, has proposed a law allowing shops to stay open on Sundays.
This law would further amend Denmark’s 105-year-old law requiring stores to remain closed on Sundays.
The current laws allow all retailers to remain open 21 Sundays each year. Although the elimination of the Shop Law would take effect on October 1st, 2012, the number of exempt Sundays would be increased to 30 starting on June 1st, 2010.
The final implementation of the new law would eliminate all restrictions on opening days and hours, with the exception of major holidays.
