The government of Guyana has announced that the upcoming Youman Nabi, birth anniversary of the Prophet, public holiday, would be commemorated on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
The government announcement followed a press release by the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) which announced that the new moon of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awal in the Islamic Year 1430 A.H. had been sighted on the evening of February 26, 2009.
As is often the case (22-Mar-2007, 01-Apr-2006 and 12-Apr-2005) the date announced in Guyana for the birth anniversary of the Prophet public holiday, is one day later than in the Middle East.
