The Chief Electoral Officer of India's State of Punjab, Kusumjit Sidhu, has announced that Wednesday, May 13, 2009, would be a state public holiday "for the voters of the nine Parliamentary Constituencies of the state to go out in full strength".
This public holiday is akin to those declared last month in the states of Puducherry (29-Apr-2009), Delhi and Tamil Nadu (20-Apr-2009), Himachal Pradesh (), and in Jammu and Kashmir (11-Apr-2009).
