Indonesian Pro-Mega Candidates Pledge To Restore May Day Public Holiday

(Posted on Thursday, June 4, 2009)

Indonesian presidential candidates, Megawati Sukarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto (Pro-Mega), have promised to turn International Labor Day, or May Day, into a national public holiday, should they get elected.

Although Megawati Sukarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto stand little chance in the upcoming elections, the issue of the restoration of May Day as a public holiday in Indonesia is soon to be discussed by the National Tripartite Agency, a new organization comprising business, labor and government representatives (30-Apr-2009).
