The government of Moldova has confirmed that Wednesday, July 29, 2009, the date of the upcoming elections, would be a day of rest (public holiday).
The likelihood of election day being a public holiday was announced last month by Moldova's Electoral commission (CEC) Secretary, Iurie Ciocan, as the Moldovan constitution specifies that elections should be held on a non-working day (21-Jun-2009).
A compensating working Saturday will be declared, as is often done (10-Dec-2008), at a date yet to be announced by the government.
