Nicaragua Declares Additional July 20 Public Holiday

(Posted on Wednesday, July 15, 2009)

Source: La Prensa (Managua)

Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Jeannette Chαvez, has announced that Monday, July 20, 2009, would be a one-off public holiday in Nicaragua.

This is a one-off occurrence due to the fact that July 19, 2009, the 30th anniversary of the Sandanista revolution, falls on a Sunday. Usually, Nicaragua public holidays that fall on a Sunday do not give rise to a day in lieu.
