In a communique released yesterday, Nicaragua's Minister of Labor, Jeannette Chávez Gomez, announced that, as per custom, it had declared the period from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday as public sector holidays.
In addition, the MITRAB communique reminded the private sector that both Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are official public holidays for Nicaragua's private sector.
As an aside, Nicaragua's custom of declaring the entire Holy Week as public sector holidays, was recently emulated by neighboring Costa Rica (19-Mar-2009).
