At yesterday's meeting of the Coordination Committee (CC) of Pakistan's three ruling coalition parties, the PPP, MQM and ANP, the Sindh government hinted at the possibility of a public holiday being announced on May 12.
PPP Information Secretary, Saeed Ghani, announced that the matter would be discussed again at the May 11 CC meeting and that a decision would be taken at that time.
Earlier this week, Pakistan's Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakhtoon Action Committee (PAC) had called for a general strike on May 12, unless the Sindh government declared a public holiday on that same day (05-May-2009).
