Pakistan Clarifies 2-Day Weekends Status

(Posted on Thursday, November 12, 2009)

Source: The News (Karachi)

Zubair Motiwala, the adviser to Pakistan's Chief Minister on Economic Affairs, has quashed rumours that the government of Pakistan was moving towards 2-day weekends.

The clarification was deemed necessary, due to the outcry by industrialists and businessmen, following last week's government gas management plan which entailed gas supply load shedding, two days a week, on rotational basis.

While the government of Pakistan operates a 5-day workweek (Saturdays and Sundays, currently) most of the private sector follows a 6-day workweek.
