In a GMA-7 interview, today, Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao announced that he had received a personal telephone call from Philippines' President Arroyo, who told him that Friday, May 8, 2009, the day he arrives in Manila, had been declared a non-working public holiday.
Over the past weekend, there had been reports that PGMA had declared Sunday a Celebration Day, but as Sundays are non-working days in the Philippines, that announcement was essentially symbolic.
