Philippines President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has issued Proclamation No. 1764 which declares Friday, May 8, 2009, as a national day of celebration to honor boxing champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.
Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III explained, though, that, despite earlier announcements (04-May-2009), May 8 will not be a non-working public holiday.
