Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, has endorsed cabinet decision No.33 of 2009 that creates a new annual bank and financial sector holiday on the first Sunday of March.
The idea of new annual March bank holiday, initiated by the Central Bank of Qatar, was approved, last April (16-Apr-2009), at a session of Qatar's cabinet, presided by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
This new official holiday will apply to: the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), as well as all banks and financial institutions operating under the control of the QCB, Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) and Qatar securities company (QSC).
