Romania's Secretary of State, Fatuloiu Valentin, has announced that it will force public sector employees to take eight days of unpaid public sector holidays, at the end of the year in a bid to cut the budget deficit.
Though no specific dates have yet been announced, interim Finance Minister, Gheorghe Pogea, added that there will be four days off in November and another four in December. Based on the calendar of Romanian public holidays until the end of 2009, we would expect these 8 days to be: Monday, November 30, then December 2-3-4, followed by December 21-24. But this remains to be confirmed.
