Romania's Interior Minister, Deputy Dan Nica, has announced the dates of the upcoming Presidential elections (November 22 and December 6) and has implicitely ruled-out the declaration of a one-off public holiday on that occasion.
Speaking to the Press, the Interior Minister said that "elections will be conducted under the same conditions as in 2004", to avoid any criticisms that changes were made to favor one of the candidates.
Based on the date of the 2004 elections, and its proximity with the December 1st public holiday, it had been widely rumoured (21-Jun-2009) that a bridge public holiday might be declared on Monday, November 30, 2009.
