Following the death of former President Kim Dae-jung, earlier this afternoon, the government of South Korea has announced that a cabinet meeting, tomorrow, Wednesday, would decide as to the format of the funeral.
The funerals of former South Korean presidents are usually treated in the formats of a "state funeral" or the format of a "people's funeral".
A state funeral means nine days of mourning and the declaration of a public holiday on the date of the funeral. The only state funeral ever held was when President Park Chung-hee was assassinated in 1979.
Former President Roh Moo-hyun, who committed suicide in May 2009, was awarded a people's funeral.
