South Korea Announces 2010 Public Holidays

The Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute has announced the official dates of the 2010 South Korean public holidays that are based on the Korean lunar calendar.

As per the Institute's announcement, the day of Seol-nal (Lunar New Year) will be Sunday, February 14, 2010, meaning that the 3-day public holiday will include a Saturday and a Sunday.

The date of Sukka Tansin Il (Buddha Day) will be Friday, May 21, 2010, and Chusok (the Harvest Moon Festival) will be on Wednesday, September 22, 2010.

Meanwhile, the bill that would make the Monday following a weekend public holiday, a public holiday as well (10-Jul-2009), is progressing through the legislature, and Prime Minister, Chung Un-chan, has indicated that he favored the idea.
