During next Tuesday's ceremonial address to the nation from Parliament , Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, is expected to announce a new national public holiday, to be designated National Liberation Day.
The Colombo Sunday Times report that the date of such an announcement would be designated National Liberation Day, to be observed every year, combined with a subsequent announcement by the Department of Information that the address would take place on Tuesday, would mean that the date of this new national holiday would be May 19.
