Sri Lanka's Government Information Department has announced that Parliament had been prorogued and would be reconvened on Tuesday, at which time it is reported that Friday, May 22, 2009, would be declared a national public holiday, to celebrate the end of the LTTE rebellion.
As we reported last weekend (17-May-2009 and 18-May-2009) this, May 22, National Liberation Day is to be observed annually, but it is not clear yet, if the date will also be a non-working public holiday in future years.
