The President of Sudan's semi-autonomous Southern Sudan (GoSS), Salva Kiir Mayardit, has issued a presidential order declaring seven days of public holiday, from November 11 to 17, 2009, in order to enable government officials to mobilize for voter registration.
These 7-day public holidays apply to all constitutional post holders as well as civil servants at all levels of government.
The Government of Sudan has already, in the past, declared week-long public holidays (07-Dec-2008) and Census Public Holidays (11-Apr-2008).
