Last night, Sudan's minister for cabinet affairs in the Government of Southern Sudan, Dr. Luka Tombekana Monoja, announced that the 7-day voter registration public holidays applies only to constitutional post holders (ie. elected officials), and apologized for the error in the text of the President’s order, which by mistake included civil servants.
The minister for cabinet affairs thus clarified that, due to this erroneous announcement (08-Nov-2009), civil servants would still have a one-day public holiday on Wednesday, November 11, and resume work on Thursday, November 12, 2009.
