Taiwan Adds Bridge Public Holiday In 2009

(Posted on Tuesday, February 10, 2009)

Source: Taiwan Central Personnel Administration (Taipei)

Taiwan's Central Personnel Administration has released an updated list of 2009 public holidays in Taiwan.

As we had surmised at the end of last year (05-Dec-2008), following the comments attributed to Taiwan's Premier, Liu Chao-shiuan, the government of Taiwan seems to be following a new official policy of Friday bridge public holidays that extend beyond this year's, one-off, January 2 bridge public holiday (02-Dec-2008).

In that context, an additional bridge public holiday has been scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2009 (the preceding day, a Thursday, is the annual Dragon Boat Festival public holiday). In compensation, Saturday, June 6, 2009, will be a regular working day.
