Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister, Patrick Manning, has announced that, given the multi-racial composition of the country, the government had seen it fit to rename tomorrow's public holiday from "Indian Arrival Day" to, simply, "Arrival Day".
The announcement drew immediate ire from the Chairman of the Indo-Trinbago Equality Council (ITEC), Devant Maharaj, who criticized the Prime Minister for omitting "Indian" from the official state public holiday and, more generally, because the Prime Minister attends no Indian functions.
