(Posted on Monday, December 13, 2010)

Source: Pajhwok Afghan News (Kabul)

The government of Afghanistan has declared Thursday, December 16, 2010, as a public holiday on the occasion of the upcoming "Moharam" holiday (Ashura).

Note that the above announcement will have no effect in Kabul, as the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, announced that, effective in early December (01-Dec-2010), Thursdays would join Fridays as the new official 2-day weekend in Kabul.
