Costa Rica's Legislative Assembly has unanimously approved, in commission, the amendment of the Labour Code of Costa Rica to make March 8, the "Día Internacional de la Mujer", a paid non-working public holiday for all sectors of the economy.
The bill 16 968 (por medio del cual se reforma el Código de Trabajo para que el día 8 de marzo, pase a ser feriado de pago obligatorio para los trabajadores) now goes to a floor vote where it is expected to pass easily.
This new holiday is not expected to be moved to the following Monday, when it falls on a mid-week weekday (17-Mar-2005).
