Ecuador Announces Carnival Recuperation Dates

(Posted on Thursday, February 18, 2010)

Ecuador's Minister of Labour Relations has announced that Saturday, February 20, and Saturday, February 27, 2010, would be regular working days as compensation for the 2 days of Carnival public holidays, earlier this week.

The announcement follows from the executive decree Nº 418, which set forth the dates of public holidays for the period of 2008 to 2011 (20-Jun-2007).

Although the dates of 2010 public holidays were reconfirmed late last year (29-Nov-2009), the Carnival recuperation dates are usually the object of a later annoucement (21-Feb-2009 and 27-Jan-2008), though the decree does say that this will occur of the 2 subsequent Saturdays ("los dos días de Carnaval se recuperarán sin recargo alguno los dos sábados subsiguientes a la suspensión").
