The Haitian government has declared Friday, February 12, 2010, as a one-off public holiday to give the nation a chance to mourn and "pay homage to the innumerable victims of the earthquake, many buried in anonymity".
The announcement of this one-off public holiday was made yesterday afternoon, local time, 28 days after the earthquake that devastated the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince.
