The government of Kazakhstan has announced the dates of non-working days related to the upcoming public holidays in the month of May 2010.
As per the Kazakhstan government's communique, the May 1st, Unity Day, public holiday will give rise to an additional non-working public holiday on Monday, May 3rd, 2010, as May 1st falls on a non-working day in 2010.
Similarly, the May 9th, Victory Day, public holiday will give rise to an additional non-working public holiday on Monday, May 10th, 2010, as May 9th also falls on a non-working day this year.
These announcements follow from the 2001 amended version of Kazakhstan's Labour Code and the Law on Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan (14-Dec-2001) which states that "the days of the national and state holidays are non-working days" and that "in case of coincidence of a day off and a holiday, a day off will be the next day following the holiday".
