Kazakhstan Declares July 5 Bridge Public Holiday

(Posted on Friday, June 25, 2010)

Source: Gazeta (Astana)

The government of Kazakhstan has declared a one-off bridge public holiday on Monday, July 5, 2010, to link the previous weekend to this year's, July 6, annual public holiday.

As per custom in such cases (29-Dec-2009, 01-Dec-2009, 21-Apr-2008 and 21-Nov-2007), this extra non-working public holiday will be compensated by having declared Sunday, July 3, 2010, as a regular working day. Note that such bridge public holidays declarations are not systematic (12-Dec-2008 and 25-Aug-2006).

The Day of the Capital, on July 6, was declared an annual public holiday, a couple of years ago, when the plenary session of the Kazakh Senate adopted an amendment to the Kazakh law On holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan (23-Jun-2008).
