Kuwait's Undersecretary of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mohammed Al-Roumi, has announced four days of public holidays, from Thursday February 25 until Sunday, February 28, 2010.
The announcement was made to clarify this year's overlap of the National Day public holiday (annually on February 25), the Liberation Day public holiday (annually on February 26), in addition to the Prophet’s Birthday public holiday (February 26, in 2010), and the weekend which, since 2007 (04-Aug-2007), is Friday and Saturday.
Although the recently-passed (25-Dec-2009) Labour Law which increases public holidays for the private sector to 13 days from only 8, currently, still needs a few months to be implemented, the aforementioned decree appears to apply to both the private and public sectors. But this remains to be officially confirmed.
