The North Korean government is apparently getting ready to declare January 8 as a new annual national (public) holiday to commemorate the birthday of leader Kim Jong-il's third son and heir apparent, Kim Jong-un.
According to a North Korean source, "The Secretariat of the North Korean Workers Party's Central Committee has sent instructions to nationwide party organizations to 'meaningfully commemorate Comrade Kim Jong-un's birthday", although the official stance of the South Korean government, as of yesterday, was that "celebrations are apparently being planned, but the North's move to celebrate January 8 as a new public holiday, has not been confirmed so far".
In 1975, in a similar move, Kim Jong-il's, February 16, birthday became an annual national public holiday, the year before he was chosen as the regime's heir apparent.
Former personal chef to Kim Jong-Il, Kenji Fujimoto, has described Kim Jong-Un as "closely resembles his father physically and in terms of personality".
