According to reports of a recent series of meetings in the North Korean city of Hoeryong, it would appear that, after all, January 8, might be an official public holiday in North Korea.
A calendar recently released by the North Korean government (16-Dec-2010), did not include January 8, the birthday of Kim Jong-il's third son and heir apparent, Kim Jong-un, as an official public holiday in the DPRK for the calendar year 2011, despite earlier indications that this might be the case (06-Jan-2010 and 07-Jan-2010).
