The Omani authorities have finally announced the dates for this year's National Day public holidays, beginning for both the private and public sectors on Saturday, December 25, 2010.

Oman's Manpower Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, has issued a ministerial decision declaring that the Omani private sector would be on public holidays from Saturday, December 25, until Monday, December 27, 2010 (Fridays are the private sector's weekly day off).

In a separate announcement, Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud al Busaidi, announced public sector holidays for the period from Saturday, December 25, until Wednesday, December 29, 2010, inclusively, for ministries, public authorities and other departments of the State administrative apparatus.

The dates of Oman's National Day, November 18-19, are by tradition regular working days (18-Nov-2009), and the actual dates of the corresponding public holidays dates are announced at the last minute for a later date (20-Nov-2009, 17-Nov-2008, 13-Nov-2007, and 16-Nov-2006). But National Day's proximity to the Eid al-Adha festival this year, means that they were pushed back further than usual (13-Nov-2010).
