The government of Peru has declared 4 additional public sector holidays for 2010, on June 28, July 30, December 24 and December 31.
The decree D.S. N° 026-2010-PCM, issued by the Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, and entitled "Declaran días no laborables compensables para los trabajadores del Sector Público, durante el año 2010", considers these extra days to be workable days (días hábiles) to be recuperated at other times during the year, as was done in past years (15-Dec-2008, 08-Feb-2008 and 15-Sep-2006).
Apparently, the Decreto de Urgencia Nº 099-2009 of last fall (19-Oct-2009), which was supposed to abolish the system of civil service bridge public holidays, is no longer being seriously considered.
