Philippines Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Abigail Valte, has announced that President Benigo Simeon Aquino III had declared Monday, November 29, 2010, as a non-working public holiday.
The aforementioned announcement follows last year's Proclamation 1841 (22-Jul-2009) which declared 10 regular public holidays, four special non-working public holidays and one special public holiday for the calendar year 2010.
However, since his election, President Benigo Aquino (17-Jun-2010) has announced that he would declare each public holiday on a case-by-case basis (12-Jul-2010). As such, some of the previously gazetted public holidays were canceled (11-Aug-2010) while others remained in place (13-Aug-2010), albeit after a period of uncertainty (12-Aug-2010).
