Suriname's Secretary of the Interior, Soewarto Moestadja, has announced that the recently-promised, October 10, public holiday for Maroons Day, was not official, yet, and would not be so until a decree or law was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Suriname.

Secretary Moestadja made these comments while answering questions at a press conference where he was taken to task for the government's recent declaration of 2 new annual public holidays; for Diwali (30-Oct-2010) and Id-ul-Adha (13-Nov-2010).
