The Armenian Government Staff has announced that the Armenian government had declared Monday, August 1, 2011, as a public holiday linked to the July 31 feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with last year's announcement of the official list of 2011 public holidays and non-working days in Armenia, as announced by the Head of the Armenian Government Staff, David Sargsyan (16-Dec-2010).
It also follows the practice, begun a couple of years ago (26-Jun-2008), of declaring public holidays for each of the "Commemoration Days of All the Departed" feasts of the lord of Armenian Apostolic Church (01-Apr-2010, 09-Jul-2010, 13-Aug-2010, and 10-Sep-2010).
