  • Bolivia Declares May 27 Mother's Day Public Holiday
Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Previsión Social (La Paz)

Bolivia's Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has announced that Tuesday, May 27, 2025, would be a half-day non-working public holiday for salaried mothers in the public and private sectors on account of Bolivian Mother's Day.

As per the announcement made by the General Director of Labor, Yecid Mollinedo, "Considering the importance of May 27, 1812, during the War of Independence and in compliance with the provisions of Supreme Decree 4921 of May 1, 2023, a half-day holiday is being declared for Tuesday, May 27, of this current administration, for all working mothers in the public sector.".

Recall that, in 2024, Bolivia's General Director of Labor, Yecid Mollinedo, had similarly announced that Monday, May 27, 2024, would be a half-day non-working public holiday for salaried mothers in the public and private sectors on account of Bolivian Mother's Day.

Prior to the passage of the Decreto Supremo Nº 4927, such as in 2022, May 27 was often observed as a half-day public holiday, but only for the public sector, and not systematically, as the November 8, 1927, law instituting Mother's Day in Bolivia does not specify it as a non-working day.
