Egypt's Central Bank has announced that all Egyptian banks would be closed on Sunday, November 27, 2011, which has been declared a bank holiday in Egypt on account of the upcoming El Hijra (Islamic New Year).
The aforementioned declaration of a one-off bank holiday was made, according to the communique of the Central Bank of Egypt, as this year's El Hijra (Islamic New Year) non-working public holiday falls on a Saturday, as was done, though not systematically, in the past (20-Jul-2011 and 05-Jan-2011).
In addition, the Egyptian stock market has announced that it would be closed on Monday, November 28, 2011, for the start of the upcoming elections.
