The Falkland Islands Government has finally confirmed that Monday, June 4th, 2012, would be declared a one-off public holiday in the Falkland Islands to mark the royal diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

The suggestion that Monday, June 4th, 2012, be declared a one-off public holiday in the Falkland Islands was made a few months ago (31-Jul-2011) at a meeting of the Falkland Islands General Purposes Committee of the Executive Council (Exco), by the Public Diplomacy Group.

Currently, the following countries have declared a one-off public holiday to commemorate the royal diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne: The UK (27-Dec-2009), the Isle of Man (10-Sep-2010), Jersey (29-Sep-2010), the Cayman Islands (31-Aug-2011) and Guernsey (29-Jul-2011).

Note that, in some cases the additional 2012 public holiday is declared on Monday, June 4, 2012, and in other cases on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, depending if the last Monday of May is an annual public holiday.
