The Mayotte authorities have declared Thursday, March 31, 2011, as a one-off public holiday to mark the upcoming change in territorial status of Mayotte.
The aforementioned change in territorial status of Mayotte (contested by the Comoros and the African Union) was approved in 2009 by a referendum which also led to the declaration of a public holiday (28-Mar-2009).
