SLP Leader and Saint Lucia's Prime Minister designate, Kenny Anthony, has announced that contrary to tradition, he would not declare tomorrow, Tuesday, November 29, 2011, a one-off post-election public holiday.
In the aforementioned statement, Kenny Anthony told St Lucians that "I am afraid there will be no holiday (Tuesday), we will get to work immediately".
In the past it was customary in Saint Lucia for a public holiday to follow the day of a general election (02-Jan-2007, 03-Dec-2001 and 23-May-1997), as is often also the case in other Caribbean countries (30-Dec-2009, 08-Sep-2009, 13-Mar-2009, 05-May-2005, 22-Feb-2005, 21-May-2003, 21-Oct-2003, and 27-Nov-2003).
