The government of Uruguay has released the list of official 2012 public holidays in Uruguay for the calendar year 2012.
As always, in Latin American countries which follow the Emiliani Rule (02-Oct-2005) to determine the date of observance of some of their non-working public holidays, the interesting aspects are the announced dates of such moveable public holidays, in particular after last year's decision (12-May-2011, 02-May-2011 and 21-Oct-2010) to "freeze" the date of the May 18 public holiday in 2011.
Recall that 10 years ago (14-Nov-2001), Uruguay's Parliament had permanently frozen the dates of the observance of the June 19 and November 2 public holidays, leaving only 3 "movable" public holidays in Uruguay: April 19 (Desembarco de los 33 Orientales), May 18 (Batalla de las Piedras), and October 12 (Descubrimiento de América).
