(Posted on Wednesday, September 7, 2011)

Source: Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias (Caracas)

The government of Venezuela has announced that September 8th, 2011, had been declared a national celebratory holiday (Día de Júbilo Nacional) on account of the upcoming feast for the Virgen del Valle.

The aforementioned announcement, contained in a presidential decree signed by Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, was later commented on by Venezuelan Minister of Communications, Andrés Izarra, who pointed out on his Twitter account that the Decreto N° 07 de septiembre de 2011 was a holiday but at the same time a regular working day ("El Presidente lo decretó como día de Júbilo Nacional, en honor a la Virgen del Valle. No es día feriado. Se trabaja.").
