Zambia's President, Rupiah Banda, has declared Monday, June 27, 2011, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Zambia.
The aforementioned declaration of a one-off public holiday, announced by Zambia's Secretary to Cabinet, Joshua Kanganja, was made "to allow the nation put to rest Second Republican President, Frederick Chiluba".
All Zambian financial institutions including banks, the Lusaka Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission will be closed and as such, no trading or settlement will take place on Monday, June 27, 2011.
A few years ago (26-Aug-2008), then acting Zambian president, Rupiah Banda, declared a public holiday on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, for the day on which another former President, Levy Mwanawasa, was to be interred.
