Zambian President, Rupiah Banda, has declared Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as a non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming tripartite elections.
The aforementioned declaration of Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as a non-working public holiday in Zambia was contained in a statement issued by Zambian Secretary to the Cabinet, Joshua Kanganja.
Zambia's President, Rupiah Banda, had set Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as the date for the upcoming tripartite elections, earlier this summer (28-Jul-2011).
At the time there was no announcement that Tuesday, September 20, 2011, would be a non-working public holiday in Zambia, although we had surmised that it would be the case as the government of Zambia did declare a one-off public holiday on Thursday, October 30, 2008 (23-Oct-2008), on the occasion of the presidential election to replace former President Levy Mwanawasa, who had recently died (26-Aug-2008).
