Argentina's President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, has signed into law the bill recently passed by the Argentine Senate and Lower House, which declares a one-off non-working public holiday on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.
The bill to declare a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán (ley 26.763) was promulgated via the Executive Decree 1639.
The aforementioned bill surfaced last April (01-Apr-2012), the week after another bill (26-Mar-2012) was introduced n Argentina's lower house of Congress to limit the number of national non-working public holidays in Argentina to 15 in any given year.
It was then split into 2 parts (25-May-2012), and last May, a portion of the original draft bill was approved by the Argentine lower house of parliament, the part declaring a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on February 3, 2013, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of San Lorenzo.
Then, last June (29-Jun-2012), the Tourism Commission of Argentina's lower house of Congress (Cámara de Diputados) approved the move to the floor of a bill to declare a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.
Following its approval by the Cámara de Diputados (10-Aug-2012), the bill was then sent to the Senate where it was approved last week (06-Sep-2012).
