Earlier today, Libya's ruling National Transitional Council announced an overhaul of the official list of national non-working public holidays in Libya, beginning in the calendar year 2012.
According to Abdelrazzak al-Aradi, a member of the Libyan National Transitional Council, the aforementioned overhaul of the official list of national non-working public holidays in Libya sees the return of the Libyan Independence Day public holiday, as had been announced, for 2011, last year (22-Dec-2011).
The overhauled list of Libyan public holidays also confirms the February 17 and October 23 public holidays declared as one-off public holidays last year (16-Feb-2011 and 23-Oct-2011) as well as making good on the Libyan government's promise to declare a new annual Martyrs' Day public holiday (05-Sep-2011).
Finally, the aforementioned announcement specifies which Muslim dates will be observed as non-working public holidays in Libya, and for how many days.
