Nepalese Public Holiday June 24

(Posted on Friday, June 22, 2012)

Source: Nepalese Ministry of Home Affairs (Kathmandu)

The government of Nepal has announced that Sunday, June 24, 2012, had once again been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming Machchindranath Bhota Jatra festival.

Last year (26-Jun-2011), and the year before that (26-Jun-2010), the government of Nepal had similarly declared one-off regional public holidays on account of the Bhotojatra festival.

Note that, after a brief interval in 2000-2001 when a 2-day weekend was tried (13-Jan-2001), Nepal observes a 1-day weekend on Saturdays, meaning that Sunday is normally a regular working day.
