Venezuelan April 30 Public Holiday Ruled-Out

(Posted on Sunday, April 29, 2012)

Source: Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias (Caracas)

The government of Venezuela, through its Minister for communication and Information, Andrés Izarra, has issued an official denial that Monday, April 30, 2012, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in Venezuela.

The aforementioned official statement ("OJO: mañana NO es feriado. Todos a trabajar por la Patria!") was made on the official Twitter account of the Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Comunicación e Información.

This clarification was deemed necessary due to the upcoming May 1st annual non-working public holiday falling on a Tuesday, which also happens to be the date when the new amended Venezuelan public holidays legislation will be signed by President Chavez (13-Mar-2012 and 06-Feb-2012).
